Book Reviews

Front Cover of the Women's Edition Companion Journal

"Dents in the Ceiling" by Angel Henry is a MUST READ! It is not only a playbook for women of color in the workplace but for active allies as well. She shares her experiences and that of others about being "The Only" and how she has had to navigate through that. This book details many eye opening accounts of situations that no one deserves to be in! Her transparency and vulnerability on the subject really put things into perspective for me. Thank you Angel, for sharing your story.

Working in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space can have any number of difficult issues and conversations to confront. This book does a great job of bringing some of those issues with Women of Color in the workplace specifically to light and addressing how we can all be better at listening, understanding and acting. An important resource to be a better ally!

Reading this brought to mind so many past experiences I have had as a woman of color just trying to grow and thrive in the corporate world. We needed a book like this to finally have those hard discussions. This book is definitely a page turner.
